At her fiftieth birthday party, Tess Thomason, a plain-Jane, divorced mother and decidedly unprepared women’s newspaper columnist, is blindsided by her well-meaning family with a stack of gift cards she interprets as meaning she’s fat, frumpy, and wrinkled. Facing a lonely future and failing career, Tess embarks on a journey of self-discovery, taking her readers along for the ride. But her resolve is nearly derailed by a hilarious season of family chaos that includes a surprise pregnancy, rushed wedding, and unexpected houseguests. In the midst of it all, Tess is drawn into a confusing new relationship with a man who is impossibly perfect for her. But, if she can keep herself, her family, and her willpower firmly seated on the crazy roller coaster of her life, maybe Tess will find her own self-worth and a new love in the bargain.

Hair Art & Co., Richardson, Texas

My friends, Rhonda and Jerome Hagood of Hair Art & Co., graciously hosted a reception at their salon. An array of delicious party foods awaited us, and we had such a great time visiting with guests and talking about books and writing. I even unveiled the cover for Windshadow!

I’d love for you to meet the Hagoods, if you don’t already know them. Their salon is at 1251 West Campbell Road. They are single-handedly introducing me to every reader in Richardson.  And keeping me looking party-perfect.

Cedar Creek Lake

My three sweet friends from high school journeyed with me to Cedar Creek Lake near Dallas for a whirlwind two-day book blitz! Debbie, Janet, and Lee cheered me on at the Cedar Creek neighborhood book club and the Mabank Library book club. The women were warm and welcoming, and we had the liveliest visits with them. Great fun. We also stopped at Between the Sheets, a charming bookstore in Gun Barrel City, where we enjoyed a lovely beverage and browsed their selection of books.

I’d Love to Visit Your Book Club

The season of book clubs is in full swing, and I have several scheduled, but lots of empty slots in my calendar. If you would like me to come and talk about one of my books, the writing life, or life in general, I will tailor my presentation, bring extra books, offer a giveaway, and visit over coffee, wine, or whatever. Discussion questions for both books are on my website at cindycausey.com.NOTE: I know groups often have to schedule these appearances months in advance, so I am happy to start filling my calendar for 2027 and hopefully will have Windshadow out by then!
